James Rivers
President
As President, Jim oversees the executive leadership team of United Capital to ensure clients receive personal financial planning and have access to customized investing solutions. He is responsible for the overall vision, mission and direction of United Capital, providing strategic guidance to our national team of financial professionals.
Jim brings with him extensive leadership experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining United Capital, he was a Managing Director and Region Head of Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, overseeing financial counselling and other services provided to high-net-worth clients in the West Region. Earlier in his career at Goldman Sachs, Jim was Region Head and Senior Vice President for the West Coast Region of Ayco and the Goldman Sachs Partners Family Office and held a number of positions in Ayco’s Mid-Atlantic Region, including Financial Advisor.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Fordham University and a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School.
Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He is an active runner, reader, hiker and surfer, and he loves watching his kids play sports.
